As I think about the closing of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, I begin to think about what I did over the course of this year that I want to change, repeat, or fix in the new year. The significance of a “new year” is important to some people as they think of it as a fresh start. Although that is not really the case since you can’t change the past or what has happened, I agree that it is refreshing to think of it as a fresh start or a new chapter.
Over the course of 12 months so many things can happen. In 2017, I graduated high school, moved away and started college, went through a breakup, and began to focus on myself again. I have high hopes for 2018. Whether it consists of me staying home and working at something I really love to do, or going back to school to persue a degree and build friendships. Either way, I hope to become a better version of myself and really take the time to live a healthy life physically and mentally.
To help start off this “new self”, I’ve been reading a daily devotional to help spark the motivation I need throughout the day. Having a daily devotional gives me peace of mind & inspires me on whatever the topic is for that day. Personally, I really enjoy Cara Ku’ulei’s daily email devotionals. All you have to do is go to her webiste and enter your email in the subscription bar. You get a new devotional every day that you can read whenever you need it! They are simple and realistic, covering multiple topics that we all struggle with from time to time. If this is something you’re interested in, here is a link to her website http://www.carakuulei.com.
It is important that we sometimes take a step back and look at what we’ve accomplished, but to also look at what we want our future to be like. Lately, I have been learning to make a decision and stick with it. In this new year I encourage you to try something new and different. Maybe you’ll discover something you didn’t know about yourself!
